The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was identified as the cause of a disease outbreak that began in China in 2019. The disease is called coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
VACCINE
As of April 22, 2020 there is no vaccine or treatment. Clinical trials have started with experimental vaccine for safety and its ability to induce an immune response, but it may take over a year before it is available to the public.

THE CURVE
The tall, skinny curve is the worst case scenario where more people get sick in a short period of time due to preventative measures not being taken, overloading the medial care capacity (dotted line).
The lower, but wider curve represents a lower infection rate. Spreading it out over time to prevent over loading the medial infrastructure.
